October

This month is a real turning point in the year. At the start of the month Summer crops are still being harvested alongside the start of more autumnal crops like red cabbage, savoys and Romanesco. As the month progresses, we will take out French beans, pepper and tomato plants to make way for Winter salad and spinach.

After an extremely dry September we have had a huge amount of rainfall in October which makes this a little more difficult.

This month sees us harvest Winter squash and potatoes, bringing them in out of the fields to store. Our aim if the weather stays favourable is to sow out a green manure crop on any vacant sites as crops are lifted.
